Cake Fairy Tales

Life's better with cake and a sprinkle of fairy dust

Vespa Cake

No danger of speeding with this cake, not for another, maybe, 40-50 years.SONY DSC

This cake was the most fun I had all week. I just love it when these caking challenges fall into my lap. The cake was a yummy affair of chocolate sponge, sea salt caramelised bananas and dark chocolate ganache. The wheels are fondant-covered Oreo cookies; the body of the scooter is made from RKT. On hindsight, I should have added some fondant facial hair on Vespa boy.

Here’s a picture of Vespa boy looking pleased as punch with his cake. He’s quite a cutie, eh? And nice to boot. Sorry, taken! This guy has a beautiful fiancee who is one of the nicest people in this world I’ve ever baked for. I mean, if a woman goes out of her way to get this cake for your birthday surprise, she’s gotta be a keeper. That way, when you hit 80, she might get you another Vespa cake, only this time you can finally step on it.
